As I am out on the campaign trail every day, I am constantly reminded about why I am running for this seat. I believe the people of Missouri deserve better, more positive and more effective representation in Jefferson City.

Sandra Aust is the better deal for Clay County
The Republican incumbent, Luann Ridgeway of Smithville, is out of step with her district. She backed the use of tax dollars to help fund private education, even though Northland school districts opposed the idea. She opposes stem-cell research, but her district voted for it in 2006.

To say Sandra Aust and Luann Ridgeway are on opposite sides of the fence might be an understatement.
The two women running for Clay County's Senate District 17 race disagree on everything from health care to education.
Aust, a Democrat, would be new to the Senate, while Ridgeway, a Republican, is running for re-election.
Aust says it's time for change.

Liberty, MO - Sandra Aust's campaign for Missouri State Senate, District 17, received a special endorsement this week, from the Missouri Nurses Association (MONA), the only full-service professional organization representing Missouri's 70,000+ RNs and a constituent member of the American Nurses Association (ANA).
